Translate your game for free?Before we start
Your game is ready for another language
The offer applies if either of these is true:
- Your application already supports at least two languages.
- It currently has one language, but every string is prepared for localization: separated from the code, clear in context, and available for translation.
What you can receive
Translation or review — free of charge
Choose one format for your game:
- Russian-to-English translation;
- English-to-Russian translation;
- proofreading and post-editing after machine translation.
MTPE means machine translation post-editing. I check meaning, terminology, natural phrasing, and a consistent voice throughout the game.

Why add another language?
Help more players understand your game
Good localization helps players follow a hint, understand a mechanic, and connect with a character. Russian and English reach different audiences, from family games to dialogue-rich adventures.

In this table, English ranks #1 and Russian #9 by total speakers. A native-speaker-only ranking differs. These are people, not players; the audiences can overlap.

Why add Russian?
An audience already on Steam
Russian ranks third in the survey shown above. Translating the interface, tutorials, and dialogue helps you reach players who feel more comfortable playing in Russian.
One language, players across borders
Russian-speaking players live in Kazakhstan, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Georgia, and elsewhere. Proficiency and the desire to play in Russian vary: follow players’ language preferences, not just their country.
Make the meaning as clear as the buttons
A familiar icon can open an inventory, but it cannot explain a quest condition or a character’s joke. Localization is particularly valuable when text shapes player choices and enjoyment of the story.

Why add English?
Reach beyond the Russian-speaking community
English leads the global ranking shown here thanks to both first- and second-language speakers. An English version makes your game understandable to a wider international audience.
Make your game easier to share internationally
English dialogue, interfaces, and store descriptions help international players, reviewers, and streamers discover your project. This creates opportunities for reach and sales; results depend on the game, pricing, and promotion.
Develop in the language that suits you
You can write interfaces, quests, and dialogue in Russian first. I can help prepare a clear English version that preserves the atmosphere, humor, and character voices.
Is English required to release on these platforms?
Steam
Steam’s documentation identifies English as the fallback language for store materials: those fields must contain content, even if it is actually in another language. This is not a requirement to translate the whole game into English.
Steamworks: supported languages and FAQEpic Games Store
Epic Games Store requires English copy and a logo in English on the product page. Video must have English audio, English subtitles, or no dialogue. Full English localization of the game itself is explicitly optional.

How to assess the business case for your game
Start with the store description, a demo, or key gameplay text. Valve recommends using traffic, regional wishlists, sales, and community feedback to prioritize languages. Those signals can help you decide whether to expand the translation. Steamworks recommendations
